Pre-Design Studies & Analysis
During P1A, groups of students are expected to research, examine, and evaluate the website at this phase in order to comprehend important elements prior to designing. Students will be able to familiarize themselves with the site through the study. 'Sensing the place' will allow each person to examine the site's existing state and connect it to the project's goals and target user. Consequently, creating the best program and strategy for it.
'Where The River Pauses'
Taman Jubilee is a very ‘come and go’ place as it has become a very service-oriented town. Most people have moved out to newer ‘tamans’ and residential developments. Now, the surrounding spaces are either empty, rented out to a small number of foreigners, or a storage space for the stores below. As a result, after working hours, the site becomes eerily quiet, with the exception of a few cars passing by the area. Nobody really comes here other than to run their errands. It is a very transient area, and just like the river adjacent to it, people are constantly flowing through it, but never really pausing.
In response to the site's current conditions, we propose our building to be where the river pauses; a place to hook users in and dock their boats. A pitstop for them to unwind in between their daily routine. Our ultimate goal is to activate the space and foster opportunities for cultural engagement, social interaction, and local identity-building.

Reflection
P1A was probably the most effort i’ve put into a group project in my entire life. As dramatic as that sounds, it was quite difficult to lead a group of such different people in order to produce a ubiquitous project. I still carry a form of guilt with me for not leading my group to do our best in previous semesters, and all of that accumulated into a sense of drive in me that wanted to succeed. I believe my passion and how much i actually believed in our proposal also played a huge role in my dedication. I conceptualized the ‘river’ concept as a means of storytelling in week 01, and my incredible group and i managed to develop it to the end product it is today. During this time was when my group & i realised choosing Mr. Prince as our tutor was the best decision, as he provided us with unconditional support whenever we asked for it. With his guidance and after many sleepless nights, arguments, headaches, and tears, I am proud to say that i was able to lead my group successfully and be the only group to get an A!
